Disaster Recovery
In the event that your computer systems fail, USI can help you rebuild your computing environment so that
your business can continue function. But even we can not rebuild something without the proper pieces, so we
can also help you develop a plan to backup and protect your data so that it can be restored to a new system
if necessary. While this sounds like it might be a one time deal, it is critical to periodically check and
test the backups to verify that you are backing up everything you need. As your environment evolves, so do
your backup needs. As you add new data structures to your systems, the backup system needs to know where
they are and how to back them up. It is common for new data to be missed because of a backup job which has
been modified by someone who does not know all the ins-and-outs of the backup software.
Firewall Maintenance
Your firewall is one of the critical components of your network. It provides protection for your systems by
blocking unwanted types of access. But a firewall is not perfect, it needs to be modified as new threats are
detected or new business needs require different types of internet access. It needs to be monitored for
tampering, and as improvements become available, it needs to be upgraded to perform at its best.
Infrastructure Assessment
It is important to assess your network infrastructure on a regular basis. As you add or upgrade applications
or systems you can create bottlenecks in your system. These bottlenecks are not always where you think they
may be. For this reason, we recommend that you have your infrastructure assessed professionally on a
periodic basis to prevent bottlenecks before they occur. A slow operating network or system can impede the
productivity of your computer users which costs your business money.
IT Augmentation
Sometimes the work load can become too large for your IT staff, but not large, or consistant enough to warrant
hiring another person. Other times, you may temporarily need a skill set that is not currently available in
your IT group. Using our engineers for your temporary needs can help keep your budget in line and your projects
on time.
IT Outsourcing
This is another term for the traditional, on-site managed services. Many small to mid-size companies do not have
enough work for a full time IT department, or the budget to keep them trained, but do require the benifits of
having a trained IT staff. This is where IT Outsourcing can help. We supply a primary and a secondary engineer
for only the time you need them. The secondary engineer is kept up to date on your environment so he can fill in
if the primary engineer is unavailable due to emergency, illness, vacations, or training. This way, you do not
have to worry about the added expense of these issues because you always have a trained engineer available when
you need him.
Malware Removal
Viruses, Trojans, Spyware, Root Kits, Scumware, Adware, Worms, Bots... The list of threats to your systems
seems endless. Many times, just when you think you cleaned it off your system, it rears it's ugly head again.
While you can significantly reduce your risk of being infected by practicing safe computing, patching your system
regularly, and having up to date protection, chances are that something will eventually get through your defenses
and you will need help getting rid of it.
